Welcome to the Green Mountain Curling ClubThe Green Mountain Curling Club is a group of curlers and fans bringing curling into the state of Vermont. In our early years, we curled at the Border Curling Club just over the border in Stanstead, Quebec, but in 2006 we were very pleased to bring curling to the LARC ice arena in Morrisville, VT and curled there for three seasons. This season, we are pleased to announce that our new home ice will be at the Ice Barn in Milton. Although the details have not been finalized, we are excited about this new venue because it features a sheet of dedicated curling ice! Stay tuned! In 2005, we achieved official status as a 501(c)(3) public charity! Our purpose is to promote local, regional national and international competition in the sport of curling and to prepare people for such competition. HowardCenter Curling Challenge - Saturday, March 20Mark your calendars now for the HowardCenter’s First Annual “Curling Challenge” with assistance from the Green Mountain Curling Club (GMCC). The fundraiser will be held on March 20 at Cairns Arena in South Burlington. GMCC "coaches" will provide an hour of instruction to participating 4-person teams as well as all the equipment needed. The day-long Curling Challenge, starting at 9:00 AM, will consist of 32 teams, with 8 teams able to play at a time. For the Challenge, teams will play an abbreviated game of two ends under the watchful eyes of their coaches. The teams earning the most points from each draw will compete in a play-down at the end of the day, culminating in a championship 2-ender for the Gold Medal and bragging rights. Green Mountain CC members are urged to take advantage of the many volunteer opportunities at this exciting event. Contact Rich Dauphin at rtdauphin@gmail.com for more details.
